Production Graphic Installer

Vision Graphics has an immediate need for a Production/Layout Graphic Designer in the print production industry.

This person will use a palette of colors, images, and logos to create design reviews that conform to brand guidelines. It is important that this person understands design principles. However, a high degree of creativity is not required. This person needs to be detail oriented, comfortable working to meet deadlines and able to communicate well (written and verbally) with clients to understand their requirements.

If your interests lean more toward web and digital asset design and you are used to a lot of creativity, this position is different and may not fit your needs. Additional details will be sent to all applicants.

Education/Experience: High school diploma. Specific training in graphic or production design or equivalent experience recommended.
Experience: 2 years, preferable, but negotiable, based on experience and portfolio
Reports to: Director of Marketing

Necessary Skills:

  • Knowledge of principles of design, including: layout & composition, typography, color theory, balance, composition and current design trends.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat.
  • Understanding of bleeds.
  • A knowledge of common print materials (vinyl, plastic, wood and paper) is a plus.
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and the ability to positively interface with external and internal customers.
  • Ability to learn from and handle critiques.
  • Consistently apply and enforce style/brand guidelines.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to handle several tasks at once while remaining calm and professional.
  • Must be able to work on Mac-based computer.
  • Competent computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

A design portfolio that features examples the following will be a plus:

  • Small format including production bleed (Brochures, cards, announcements, flyers)
  • Large format (Banners, flags, posters)
  • Grand format (Vehicle wraps, building graphics, event graphics)

Responsibilities
This position requires someone who can listen to a client’s needs, cooperate on a design vision, create layouts and mockups based on sizes and shapes and deliver a production-ready design to the Prepress technicians.

Our Production Designers use their expertise to review final designs and layouts. In finalizing the products, artists may suggest improvements and modify formats to increase the quality of production and ensure that standards are met. Other technical duties may include scaling, cropping, retouching, repositioning and pre-flighting, or eliminating defective and excessive imaging. May also be responsible for archiving and updating graphic files.

Most of our design work would be defined as production art and requires communication and coordination with corporate design offices.

Hours are Monday-Friday, 8-5, except for posted holidays.

Responsibilities
The Delivery Specialist (Driver) is responsible for delivering customer orders in a safe, productive, time sensitive and customer sensitive manner on a daily basis.

  • Load, unload and secure product to ensure customers receive clean and damage free merchandise.
  • Operate delivery vehicles in a safe and lawful manner. Responsible for the vehicle and its contents.
  • Complete daily route and all appropriate paperwork. Communicate obstacles and help to find solutions to improve our overall ability to deliver.
  • Perform job functions consistent with all company safety policies and practices.

This person will work with the project manager prior to the job to assess any necessary preparation steps and then help develop a realistic timetable for installation.

This person will be able to install vinyl graphics wherever the locations may be, knowing that most of the work will be within Northern Utah. However, it is possible that jobs may occasionally be scheduled (with plenty of notice) anywhere a Vision Graphics’ customer may be. This person must be able to organize for installation jobs and be responsible for transporting all necessary equipment to the job site.

This position is full-time, but may require that the person who takes the job learn new skills outside of vinyl graphics, based on the need of the company and clients.

This person must have a professional demeanor and appearance. This person will be the face of the company to many clients who only come in contact with the installer.

  • Plan jobs to successfully accomplish the client’s needs
  • Assist in kit packing
